Solar Permit Services — From Submittal to Approval
A solar permit rejection costs more than the resubmittal fee. It costs schedule, and in commercial solar, schedule costs money. Jolt Engineering builds permit packages around the specific AHJ reviewing them — not around a generic template.
What a Jolt Permit Package Includes
- PE-stamped single-line diagrams and three-line diagrams
- Structural calculations and roof/ground-mount attachment details
- AHJ-specific cover sheet and checklist
- Load calculations and service upgrade documentation
- Equipment specifications and CEC-listed datasheets
- Interconnection documentation
- Revision tracking and correction letter response
Every package is built from our core commercial solar engineering process, ensuring your solar plan sets are built for first-time approval.
AHJ Coordination
Jolt stays involved through the review process. If an AHJ sends a correction letter, we respond directly. We track status, communicate proactively, and don't close a project until it's permitted.
This level of coordination extends to our solar interconnection services, where we manage utility approvals alongside the AHJ permit process.
What Causes Permit Rejections (and how we design around them)
Top 5 reasons commercial solar permits get rejected:
Plan set built from a template not matched to the local AHJ
Wrong stamp type (electrical vs. structural vs. both required)
Incomplete structural calculations for local wind/snow loads
Equipment listed on drawings not matching CEC or AHJ approval lists
Missing jurisdiction-specific requirements (setbacks, access paths, labeling)
Resubmittals
If a rejection happens, we own it. Revision support is included in our standard fee. We respond to correction letters, update the drawings, and resubmit — without turning it into a change order conversation.
